You have probably seen tons of commercials on TV about credit score services that are out there. I think the one played the most is about the kind who is dressed up as a pirate and works in a niche restaurant because he didn’t keep up with his credit score. The moral of story is that identity theft is a reality, and it can happen to anyone. I personally had my identity stolen 3 years ago and took me a while to fix everything that had been done. So, it’s essential to check your credit score every 6 months or so to make sure nothing’s wrong there.
You can obviously get your credit scores for free, so that’s one avenue to explore. There are also services out there that can help you to regularly keep up with your credit scores. myFICO is the most popular service out there, and they run promotions and offer discounts once in a while to new and existing customers. Basically, you can get your credit report from all three sources with myFICO, and it’s not that expensive either.
If you haven’t checked your credit report in a while. You may want to do it now as with the state of economy going south, people are getting more desparate these days.
