Credit Card Fraud Reaches Record High In UK

Filed Under (Credit Cards Blog) by creditblogger on 01-10-2008

It seems credit card fraud issue is not exclusive to the United States. The Press Association reports that U.K. cards have experienced £301.7 million in losses for the first 6 months of 2008. The majority of fraud seems to be happening on the Internet where cardholders don’t need to be present to use the cards.

Another interesting fact in this report is the rise of counterfeit credit cards where magnetic chips are cloned to be used in countries that do not have the necessary technology to catch the criminals.

Now more than ever, it is essential for credit card holders to protect their credit card information while surfing the net. You should never keep your password in a place where it can be accessed by a hacker on your computer. In addition, you should always be careful about the e-mails that you open everyday. Finally, do yourself a favor and get an anti-virus.
